Enviromentally friendly

We create a top quality service that doesn't fry your brain while consciously limiting any kind of pollution.

1. Microwaves

Each installation is carefully designed and implemented to provide a high quality service with the lowest possible EIRP and the least hardware. The Effective Radiated Power (ERP) limit in New Zealand is 4 Watts. Our early installations were typically below 1.5 Watts. Current installations are under 1 Watt. 2. Recycling

Currently, there is no industry standard way to measure the effectiveness of a company’s recycling programme. Several leading hardware manufacturers use a simple rule: assuming a product has a seven year product lifetime, they compare the percentage of weight recycled each year with the total weight of the products sold seven years ago. The same leading manufacturers currently achieve a ratio equal to 13% and expect to grow it to 30% by 2010.

Our company is not old enough to use the above method to assess the efficiency of our recycling effort. However we have not waited to have a responsible behaviour with our environment:

  1. All the packages used for the shipping of the goods we purchase are disposed for recycling using the local authorities facilities.
  2. This year, we will endeavour to be more efficient by asking our suppliers to modify their packaging to reduce the need to recycle.
  3. Because our designs and implementations make a point in being extremely efficient from any perspective, we currently dispose of faulty hardware only. A large part of it already gets dismantled before being handed over to the local recycling authorities : we do our best to ensure the best recycling conditions.
  4. A tiny fraction of our infrastructure requires to be refreshed every 3 years for performance reasons. This part of our equipment find a new life in the hands of people who do not require the horsepower we do.
  5. We do not, and we will not, replace fully amortised perfectly functional hardware that could provide us with tax savings when replacing them.
3. RoHS

100% of the equipment we use is RoHS compliant. Approximately 35% of our hardware is RoHS-5 compliant because all current lead-free solder replacements have lower reliability than the lead based solder, and we prefer to keep using highly reliable hardware rather than growing our carbon footprint with maintenance travels and disposal of faulty hardware.
